Software Evaluation Sheet: Adobe Photoshop CS5

This evaluation is done for the program Adobe Photoshop CS5, Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5, Microsoft Publisher 2010, and Microsoft Word 2010.

Photoshop CS5 Photoshop is a professional graphic design and photo editing software that is made by Adobe. This program can be used to make designs from scratch or edit existing files to a professional grade for premium printing quality. Overall I enjoy this program more than any other photo editing software on the market. It allows anything you can think of creating to come true. This program will not be used in my classroom, due to the fact that it does not correlate with what the course is teaching. Even though it isn't being used in the class, it doesn't take away the brilliance of the Adobe creators.5
Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 The Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 program is a professional web design program used by experts around the world. The CS5.5 version allows users to create three dimensional images and has new features such as CS Live, which enables users to co-work with other users around the world. This great program saves web designers hours and sometimes days worth of coding by using the Wisawig and coding view. Overall a great program, and i plan on presenting some of the information to my kids in the class through this program. 5
Microsoft Publisher 2010 Microsoft Publisher is a premier program used to create brochures, fliers, business cards, and generally any kind of layout. Using the presets already installed in publisher, it is very easy for a beginner to make something great in this program. One downfall to this program I find is that it is not as creative as Adobe Photoshop is in terms of versatility. Publisher is great for the average computer user trying to make a great looking document; however for the advanced designer it does lack the tools needed to take your media to the next level. This program will not be used in my class, because I will not be teaching document creations, but it is still an amazing program put out by one of the best computer software companies of all time. 4
Microsoft Word 2010 Over the past few years, Microsoft Word has made some drastic changes to the layout and overall quality of their program. The newer Microsoft Word 2010 has incredibly surpassed the expectation that I envisioned them being at. This program allows the majority of functions to have a designated button on the tool bar, for quicker and easier editing. Also Microsoft Word has expanded to doing more than just typing up your college essays. Now, Microsoft Word 2010 allows you to edit photo effects, add charts, and customize page layouts to a more advanced level. This program will be used in my class to present notes to the students and is overall the most vital program I have ever used. 5

Changes After learning the information presented

After learning about the products presented in the reading and myeducationkit.com information, I have come to the realization that there are more ways to use the devices in your class than what I mentioned in the previous post. The television can be used to watch interviews with people such as Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, who present their knowledge in live interviews. This directly relates to what the course is teaching. Also, the computer can reference online articles from Forbes 500 and other technology related articles.

Ethics will be taught in this classroom through an instructional video made by my previous students. Behaving ethically mean abiding to classroom rules and follow all the behavior statuses demonstrated in the video. If the video is too vague to fully understand, there is a classroom ethics code contract that must be signed at the beginning of the semester. This outlines what is acceptable and not acceptable and explains the punishment given for disobeying these rules. If both of these do not answer a question you have, you can visit me during my office hours to discuss your dilemma or you can call me at 555-555-5555. Thank you for your participation in the class, and good luck to all the students.

How Electronic Text, Images, and Video Will Be Used In The Classroom

This article will describe the multiple technology items and how we will incorporate them in class. The first item we will present in the class is called a second hand electronic test taker. This device allows me to use a projector to project the tests and quizzes to everyone in the class, while you submit the answers electronically using the handheld provided. The handheld will ask for a class number and class session, which will be provided at the beginning of class. After entering this into your handheld device it will be ready for you to submit your answers. The device is very self explanatory and has an "A", "B", "C", and "D" button which you can press to select your answers. After selecting your answer press the "submit" button and move on to the next problem. This device is Eco-friendly by conserving paper and also saves me time, by grading them instantly once all answers are submitted. This form of electronic text is the future of school test taking and will be implemented in the classroom this semester.

Another technology device we will be using is the Microsoft Office Suite 2010. We will be using the projector to project the PowerPoint slides and slide shows that correlate to the devices we will be learning about. Along with the projector, we will be using the television for video references to these products. For the majority of the technology pieces that will be covered in this class, the manufacturers present a video on how to operate and configure the devices. The television, DVD player, and projector will provide us with the video and photographic references needed to learn and evaluate these devices.

These devices are very easy to use and will be installed into the learning curriculum on day one. For those of you who do not know what the items mentioned earlier are, below is a list of each item, their functions, and how it will be used in the classroom.

1. Projector - used to project my computer screen, the television, or DVD player directly on the large projector screen, so that the entire class can see the notes, test, or quiz. This device will be used for note taking, quizes, and tests.

2.  second hand electronic test taker - A handheld remote that allows you to electronically submit test and quiz answers directly to my computer and into the gradebook wirelessly. This device will be used for quizes and tests.

3. Microsoft Office 2010 and Computer - Allows PowerPoint presentations and slideshows to be presented to the entire class, by incorperating video and photography that could not be presented through hard copy notes. This device is used for notes.

4. Television and DVD player - used to present documentaries done on the devices presented in the class through video. This device is used for notes.

TIP C: Communication Blog

For this class, having strong communcation between students, parents, and teachers is vital to earning a passing grade. I will be sending emails out to parents after every assignment is graded, so that parents are informed with the most recent grades available for the class. Parents can contact me by email or phone for any questions or concerns regarding their child's grades or behavior. Students can contact me by scheduling an appointment after class or through email. I will be in the classroom an additional 15-30 minutes after class for anyone who has questions about grades, classroom policies, or for those people who would like extra help with classroom activities.

This course will monitor every students' professional delevlopment information through the online program, Engrade. Engrade allows students and parents to email me with any concerns they have with the grades posted. It also allows me to send information out in emails when important assignments are coming up or changes to the curriculum are made. The grades will be posted on Engrade, directly after the grading is completed, and the grading scale is listed below.

Grading Scale

  • A.......... 100 - 89.45

With this course, we will be using multiple technology items. Some of these technology pieces we will be using are laptops, tablets, desktops, and wireless routers. Below is a picture of a Blackberry Playbook, which is one of the tablets that you will have a quiz on. Know for these items their functions, what makes them different from other products, and what are the pros and cons of going with particular products.
